Master of Education with a Major in Counseling
Information for Prospective/Current Students
Master's Degree
Ed.D. (Educational Leadership)
Ph.D. (Educational Science: Science Education)

This major is designed to ensure that students gain the necessary counseling skills and resources to provide individual, preventive, responsive, and support services; and is designed to prepare students to work in schools, institutions of higher learning, vocational and career institutions, churches, and industry.

Students who pursue the M.Ed. with a major in Counseling have the option to pursue certification in School Counseling. A major in Counseling, with an emphasis in School Counseling, meets SBEC requirements for certification.

Certification only: Students who have completed another master's degree may be admitted to the program to receive school counseling certification instead of the Master's degree in Counseling, provided all requirements for admission to the program have been fulfilled. A minimum of 24 hours of graduate coursework must be taken at TCU. Information about this program can be found in the TCU Online Catalog
