Master of Education with a Major in Special Education
Information for Prospective/Current Students
Master's Degree
Ed.D. (Educational Leadership)
Ph.D. (Educational Science: Science Education)

The M.Ed. with a major in Special Education prepares educators to work directly with students who have disabilities and as collaborators with families, other professionals, and administrators.

The College of Education works with its two campus laboratory schools for children with special needs, the 35-year-old Starpoint School for children with learning disabilities and the KinderFrogs School for toddlers with Down syndrome. These schools create exceptional opportunities for students pursuing this degree.

The program is designed for students who are already certified, or who are in the process of obtaining certification, at the elementary, middle grades, or secondary level.

Students may take 18 hours of coursework leading to a certificate in special education. Students already holding a certificate in special education may minor in another area compatible with their interests in special education, such as early childhood, English as a second language, technology, or educational administration.

Details can be found in the TCU Online Catalog.
